Welcome to the Pond.🌀
Pond is a record label, studio complex and creative community based in South London, founded and run by Mura Masa.
At the heart of Pond is a network formed of artists, multi-disciplinary creatives and developing sub-scenes on the frontline of music and culture.
It’s a place of cultural exchange, resource sharing and sanctuary.
Basically, we want to swap things.
By joining the Pond you belong to a network of trusted taste with access to relationship building with diverse groups of tastemaker artists and creatives.
Activity centers around the practical exchange of resources, granting access to an open-source library of materials for music making; in addition to the cultural exchange of ideas, influences and curatorial reference swapping.
Pond aspires to resist the pressures towards an ever more uniform experience of culture. To provide refuge away from the more advertorial, capital focused environments of social media. We are developing an enclosed space for unfinished ideas, feedback and development.
Pond Recommends is a public facing outlet that will provide a stage to the thoughts, tastes, styles and works of community members.
a monthly archive of cultural recommendations, original works and contributions from members of The Pond community. Anti-gatekeeping gatekeeping.
Core members are gathering in the Pond Discord server where conversations, stories, work, ideas and inspirations are happening digitally; manifesting in physical connections and friendships with local and global IRL Pond gatherings and events.
With the completion of the Pond studio complex in early 2025 we will soon have a physical home.
Membership is currently restricted to a referral system to preserve a shared sense of belonging and alignment of interests, values and taste. We will open applications and membership to a larger scale with time, with the eventual outcome of creating a public arm where a general audience will have some curated access to these spaces and allowing creatives that are members to have a space to share their work and ideas with this more generalized spectator audience.
We hope to create a network so virile that it grows its own heartbeat, breathing on collective spirit and an attitude of a more intimate community surrounding our collective creative works.
